Watcha Wearing Wednesday

I wish.... I've been drooling over my latest book purchases lately (I've linked to them on my sidebar widget).

And although I won't be strutting the streets of Brunswick in this gorgeous ensemblé...

I can't help but think that there may have been some sort of influence in my "oops, I've worn the wrong trousers to work" skirt-making session this morning.

There's a bit of bustle action going on there. I had to test an idea I've been tossing around for a while now - just to get it out of my head. It's still a hack-and-sew job, but with elastic thown in and a bit of slam-pressing. It really needs a run through the washing machine to settle the austrian-blind effect a bit.

(Message to my sewing buddy: We're really going to have to conference about who gets to wear what garment in which fabric at any given function...I think I did an accidental single-white-female thing... again)
.

Oh - and here's a top I'll no longer be wearing on Wednesdays....

When I first made this long tunic top, I thought I'd only get a few wears out of it before the lacy weave was covered with pulls and snags. Not to worry - it was a $5 remnant.

Then it shunk in the wash and became an interesting little drapy top.... and then a fitted top....

But after a wash in my new whizz-bang front loader.....

My girl will be wearing it from now on. I know how to get value out of a $5 scrap of fabric.

Watcha Wearing Wednesday

Today I was wearing as much as possible... it was FRRRRRRRRR-EEEEE-ZING and the heating in our building was on the blink.

My watcha-wearing is actually yesterday's outfit. I knew I wouldn't have time for taking photos of myself today, so here's some I prepared earlier... It's remarkably similar to last Wednesday's clobber and nothing like today's. (Perhaps I should have made time today for taking photos today for the sake of injecting some variety...?).

I'm modelling my new CurlyPops brooch. I love it.

I'm wearing my new favourite top... still. I managed to accidentally machine wash it so it's a slightly different shape than it was last week. I still love it.

And layers of frilly things, scrunchy leggings and a cowl-top under-dress - all made on Sunday with a gang of lovely sewing buddies (including the fab Miss CurlyPops) in my studio. Please note - the rest of the gang were blogless - but very nice, regardless.
I'm loving frilly things right now. They flip-flip-flip as I walk. Gotta love that.

The Accidental Watcha Wearing Wednesday...

I accidentally locked my keys in the house today, and couldn't drive my heavily-loaded car to work.

I had to walk to the bus stop...
..and for some reason was inspired to take action shots as I did it. Suddenly I'm Watcha Wearing Wednesdaying....

I made the top and leggings and bought the middle two layers on the sale rail of a boutique in Lancefield on the weekend (while I waited for my car to be repaired.... which is another story altogether). I made the
Sling bag I'm carrying - it used to be the covergirl on the pattern packet.
All up I reckon I'm dressed for under $60.... which is less than the original pricetag on the frilly black middle layer.
...
Am I just trying to shine a light on everything but the inevitable truth about how silly I felt about the keys...?
