In the Bag

My assistant kept herself busy with her fabric markers and a piece of calico yesterday.

We've run out of her beloved hobby-fill stuffing (and we have hobby-fill-stuffed-calico-and-marker-pen toys all around the studio and house), so we made wheat bags from her drawings this time.

When we ran out of wheat we used lavender for the smaller bags.

She carefully chose which bag was to be given to which person (I got the pirate!) and glowed with excitement and pride as each person received their lovely gift.

At the end of the day she said "I made people happy today".

That, she did.

I love them - great drawings - I am thinking I might have to borrow he idea for some Chrismas presens. Are they fabric textas?

Lucky you, getting the pirate! My second choice would be the bee.

What does one do with a houseful of fabric marker creations? Might be time she had her own stall at Made N Thornbury!

I did tell you that Wheatie the assistant-designed giraffe is still going strong, right? I reckon the kid has smile-inducing, creative gift giving NAILED.

What a great idea! May I steal it for my assistant. I am not allowed to dispose of her drawings, so this would be a great way of keeping them!

Maybe I'll get my daughter on to the calico and stuffing at the moment everytime she hits the sewing room she makes "bags".

What a wonderful idea! I love the fact that you don't need to buy a $100 craft kit from Toys are us to have fun .. markers and calico and wheat. How simple is that!

I was lucky enough to receive the bright, cheery sun lavender bag, along with some helpful suggestions of where it would be best hung so it would shine down on me! That made me feel very happy!! Adele (one of Nikki's new office girls)
