From my studio on the third storey in Brunswick, yesterday's storm looked ominous as it approached the city and swept over us. The sky was almost purple. I didn't take any photos but I've been scrolling through the photos in The Age today. Wowee. Glad I wasn't outside!
I'm happy to say there was no damage here except for a lump on the man of the house's head. He was hit by a hailstone as he ran between the back door and his studio (a few feet from the back door).
More bad weather predicted for this afternoon has meant that I've cancelled plans to drive to the country to see my parents. Looks like it'll be a wild weekend... spent at home.

Spring Fashion Week
..So why am I swathed in layers of wool and wearing those scruffy black boots?
Because it's Melbourne and the weather is unpredictable and changeable. Today it was just plain cold and rainy. And I like my scruffy old boots (or - more truthfully perhaps - I don't like shopping for new shoes).
I'm loving my new Fibre Red knitted skirt. Super-duper comfy, stylish, textural and the most gorgeous shade of claret (which didn't photograph very well with my dodgey happy-snap camera).

Fibre Red's amazingly creative designer Kim is taking part in fashion week in a really striking and unusual way. If you're in the city (in Melbourne... sorry to international or out-of-town readers!) it's worth taking a wander down to Little Collins St on your lunch break this week.
Incorporating performance art, live music and knitting (!) this unique and original event will unravel in Little Collins St (between Swanston & Elizabeth St). Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th from 12.30pm til 2pm.
Well it's got ME intrigued....!

Rainy Days and Mondays...
Well, I don't actually mind them that much.
This is the view from my studio window on Saturday. I love looking out at rain from my sewing cave. I feel all snug and comfy, somehow.... almost better than lying in bed listening to rain on the roof.
I love my studio. It's an old classroom on the third level of what used to be a High School Building, and has windows the full length of the room on both the North and South walls. I have LOADS OF NATURAL LIGHT and a clear view over the rooftops of Brunswick (ok, so it's not really picturesque... but I like the sense of space). I watch the city change colour (and sometimes disappear) with the changing weather. I even like looking out at cold, grey, Melbourne winter days.

This was supposed to be a temporary stop-gap studio about three and a half years ago.... Ooops! I forgot to MOVE OUT!! (Would YOU??)
