Ahhh... back to the school routine. School holidays are over.
I know that many parents find that a bit sad, but as a small-business-running single parent with a few very pressing deadlines, I must admit to doing a little happy dance (and having a swim) after school drop-off this morning.
In preparation for the new school year, one of the holiday projects the girl and I made was a new lunch bag (based on the project in One Yard Wonders... tweaked slightly).
As is our new way of doing things, it was a joint effort (and I was allowed to advise).
The smallest of us did the quilting...
And the largest did the very fiddly bits.
The smallest was so excited as we packed her lunch this morning (I only hope it encourages her to actually eat her lunches, this year...).
To get into the study mood, she began a 'research' (or "reserch") book. I love her synthesis of the books she's reading (and her little back-to-front Fs).
We also had some lovely mail over the holidays....

I also finally got around to picking up this book for my little resource library.
And in between times, I've used evey spare minute (and a few too many graveyard-shifts) working on the new book.

Well done. I was fully intending to make Liam an insulated lunch bag, but wasn't confident about dimensions, so I bought one. When it falls apart (which it surely will) I will replace it with something hand-made.
I bet you can hear the collective sigh of relief go through neighbourhood this morning :-) love the lunch bag! l almost feel guilty looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning lol, after 10am course! I bought that book just before Christmas. Still haven't had a chance to immerse myself in it :-( ........
only 1 more day before school here. even the cat is counting down the hours that charlie will be gone for 6 glorious hours! (how terrible am I!) gotta love what a cheap fabric buy makes. i might have to suss out that pattern myself - it might last longer than 2 hours which is what her new lunchbox lasted before it broke! good luck with your book writing

School and kinder for us on Monday. This week has been the turning point from 'I'm not ready for the school routine' to 'only five more sleeps - hooray!' Hope you are ticking a few things off your 'to do' list.
Phew, enjoy your recovered routine! Great joint effort on the bagm and love the fabric! I need to make my own new insulated lunchbag - I've been threatening this for, oooh, 18 months, but I'm starting a new job in a week and a half, and I'm not sure if the new place has a fridge like the current one, so it seems like a plan to have one just in case, right?
