I'm a big fan of quotable quotes. I write good 'uns down when I hear them and stick them in places where I'll see them. For example...
On my Computer...
"Well behaved women seldom make history" (No idea who wrote it, but I LOVE it!)
On my Sewing Machine...
"What we vividly imagine, ardently desire, enthusiastically act upon, must inevitably come to pass" (Edward Sisson)
On one of my Pattern Pieces... I chance across it from time to time.
"No act of kindness is ever wasted" (again, no idea where it came from)
I also love the sage advice in quirky Chinese proverbs like...
"A man must wait on the side of a mountain with his mouth open for A LONG TIME before a roast duck flies in."
and
"Do not remove a fly from the forehead of your friend with a hatchet."
Ah... I could go on and on....
Thanks to Strawberry Kisses for this week's This Is theme.

The first quote is actually by the historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich who's now come out with a whole book on that theme: http://www.amazon.com/Well-Behaved-Women-Seldom-Make-History/dp/1400041597
a favorite from my childhood.
"He who laughs last, didn't get joke at first"
You've got some good ones here:)
I love all of these, but hadn't heard the roast duck one before. That's priceless. I'm going to write it down!
hahaha, your quotes cracked me up! It must be an amusing journey through your house with all these gems waiting for you in odd places :)
p.s. the hatchet doesn't work when trying to swat mozzies on your friends either... I must remember that.
Great quotes! Those chinese ones will come in really handy! Thanks!
Oh no, and I have been carrying around my hatchet for all these years just it case.
Yay! Now I'm off to wait for my roast duck :)
They are great ones! I especially love the Chinese Proverbs!
Great quotes - and I do love your idea of having them posted in different places so you stumble on them from time to time.
