Another week has passed and I have a selection of photos with absolutley no thematic link to tie them all together.
I've been itching to cut into my new Saffron Craig fabrics but haven't managed to squeeze it in.
It's been a week of multi-tasking between interruptions, more heartbreaking news (on two separate fronts), upheaval, misunderstandings and frought emotions. The planetary alignment appears to be embracing the wonk.
My fancy-schmantzy sewing machine, in for what looked like a minor repair, appears to be having an extended break while a part is sent from Sydney and installed. Reverting to working between an industrial straight-stitcher and a simple domestic machine has been frustrating and unrewarding. There has been more cutting done than sewing.
There have been productive meetings, a return to the trapese-line top project from my book, a rekindling of a fond alliance and much fondling of lovely Japanese printed jerseys.
And a new appreciation of the humble safety pin...
There was no cleaning of mirrors.
Other things happened. There was kindness, good friends, funny stories, and a major haul of knit fabric. There was also mundane school-lunch making and nit-patrol. There was theraputic knitting and a much-needed haircut. There were classes.
Good news for those of you who live outside Australia - Pattern Review has listed the full range of my patterns, including the Purse Frame projects - in their shop.

I have two happy, tired dogs zonked out on the sofa and floor. Does this constitute good news?
Love and thoughts to you.
Not sure what the badnews link means - you? ummm.... eeeekkkk. Things ok?
Your new dress looks pretty - safety pins are such a good fashion accessory, no?!
I love the idea of fondling Japanese jerseys. fun fun.
Today was school canteen, so I didn't have to make lunches. Oh - it's tedious to be making them, along with hurrying the breakfast eating and uniform dressing and teeth brushing.
Happy weekend. xx
Just remember to breath, and place one foot in front of the other.
I hope next week is much better for you!
Sorry to hear you have been having a hard time.
I'm thinking of you, for what it is worth.
Much love to you and the family Nikki xxx
Oh cripes, love.
But firstly: Big Hurrahs and excellent thumbs up on the good stuff - as well as the Pattern Review thing.
And secondly: I am using my imagination as to the fraught stuff. I am only conjuring all sorts of head in hand-ness. Instead I hope it's just a case of softly, softly, one step at a time.
This is the 2nd time today I've just followed Tan leaving a message- I count that as good news! We follow the same awesome peeps!
Big hugs being sent for the bad news, and the terrible news your machine is out of use ;) My overlocker needed a new plate, I managed to break a bit off it that was VERY IMPORTANT, so I can commiserate.
But bloody hell- NITS AS WELL?????
Such a difficult time. Sending you and yours the strength and endurance to get through and come out the other side stronger and at peace.
Oh gosh, sometimes it's really hard to say things that don't sound like platitudes or a broken record. I'm hoping that positive things come your way soon (and that mended sewing machine will be so worth it too).
New fabric always helps a bit (especially Saffron Craig), as well as therapeutic knitting....
Hugs
Your blog has been such an inspiration for me and I love how you always share snippets of your beautiful family and life. I hope things work out for you and that the next few days do bring you good news, lots of love and laughter :)
Have a hug for the :( and a round of applause for the :)
And don't you look splendid in your new dress.
Love to you Nikki
Sometimes good things come from bad. Strange things happen. Meanwhile the dress ala safety pin is a winner as is the Saffron Craig fabric. Too nice to cut!
Put your big boots on love and stand firmly on that rug.
Sending you good vibes as we're in the world of the secondary here too. Love the good bits - it keeps us going here.
Oh no... sending big hugs and good vibes your way. xo xo L
Hi Nikki. Don't know what's going on for your and yours. The link raised troubling questions. "It will be OK in the end. If its not OK, it is not the end". I have been using that a lot lately as friends struggle with ill health, divorce and hurt. Hug your girl. Sometimes we have to allow life and plans to become a day by day proposition.
