Things that make me smile

Please... indulge me. I'm home - with the lurgie that just won't leave - while the rest of the family is off at a Melbourne Cup barbeque.

The moping about, paracetamol-taking and little-lie-downs have been punctuated with smiles.

All around the house I keep finding little reasons to go all warm and fuzzy. Little scraps of paper with smily cats on them.... lots of cards with messages like this - translation "I hope you have a nice day and you like zis (ok... "this") card".

A little A7 sketchbook with an illustrated story (dictated to the Man of the house). Surprise, surprise, it's "The Adventures of Superfrog"....

What the story lacks in character depth and plot development, it make up for in simple, visual humour.

The many portraits of the favourite toy (Quackie) make me smile....
Including a Quackie bread roll (or two)..... and lots of alphabet letters, a snail and other lovely edible creations.... (mmmm....and plum jam).
Quackie makes me smile, too.... with his "whatever" expression and his worn-off tuft of hair-that-used-to-be-there....
Poor Quackie is recovering from eye surgery (read: black texta and clear nail polish) after a game of catch-the-duck on a cement driveway. He's seen better days, but he keeps on loving and being loved.

I know how he feels.

A long time ago I gave my lambsy eye surgery with a nail file and one of those 4-grade buffers. Came up a charm.

I am doing exactly the same thing, feel like been hit by something big. Thought I just got a mild case as felt so much better on Sunday, then wham yesterday and today blahhhhh. Been surfing the net and sitting on my backside feeling sorry for myself. Hopefully tomorrow we will both feel better.

The dog that dug the hole too deep made me laugh to the point the stitches in my mouth nearly popped out!

Hope you are better very very soon!

I hope you're feeling better soon. It sounds like "the wee girl" knows how to make you feel better anyway. I also laughed at the dog down the hole. Even though that sounds like a terrible predicament, I am sure that Super Frog will save him.

Will that dog never learn? I feel this is not the first time he has dug the hole too deep. Perhaps a tape measure is in order for Christmas?

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Super frog seems quite busy helping his friends out of scrapes. Love how imaginative your wee girl is.

Get better soon, Nikki. Have you made your trusty Hot Toddy to help with recovery?

The drawing of the duck is perfect. I think your daughter has some creative talent like her Mum. Get better soon and keep the drawings coming. I love them.
