New craft kit....

'Twas lovely to have a very dear (and little-seen-of-late) friend drop by last night. The wee girl was very excited to have a new person to bombard with gifts.
She handed him a pile of pom-poms, some plastic bead-threading string and a few sequins - a make your own mouse kit.

She then sat down to write instructions (with diagrams). This photographed particularly badly.... red paper in dim after-dinner light with an old camera.

To interpret......(In no particular order) the 2-page instructions cover the step-by-step process of making the body and head, then "sdik zu tal [tail] on" "sdik zu legs on" "sdik ze is [eyes] on". (It made perfect sense... phonetically ....watching the words form on the page).

It appears that the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.
Although.... she's certainly more observant and skilled in her drawing than I was at her age. I love these self-portraits.
The detail in the plaited ponytail is great.... and I love the eyelids!

And so... my dreams of a corporate lawyer daughter (who could keep her aged and infirm mother in the manner to which she wished she were accustomed) are fading, as I anticipate another arty-farty-designer-type in the family....

I KNOW you are saving these notes and bits in a special place. I can assure you they will bring a tear to your eye, and a bout of hysterical laughter, too, when your little girl is all grown up. The note is especially wonderful! Michele

There are too many lawyer types in the world and just not enough arty farty designer types. You are doing the world a favour..
I love her spelling.

Truly, this makes a mother's heart sing! Look at all that creativity - kudos for fostering that arty-farty talent.

I think your wee girl is brilliant.

Precious moments. I love the way she wrote 'sdik' for stick. Excellent identification of beginning and ending sounds in a word. You may have a PR person in the making.

It's the Arty-Farty designer types that keep the world interesting and beautiful, a much happier and less stressful life than a lawyer anyway :)

It's funny, my little one showed her first signs of creativity the other day and I thought of your wee one and how it can start so early.

Such a sweet little arty creature you have there xxx

I hear that arty-farsty designery types are much nicer people than the corporate lawyery kind anyway. ;-)
She does amazing stuff Nikki - I hope it's all going into a big box somewhere...
