On My Desk

Leah and I took turns at ringing Tech support and fiddling with drivers and downloads.... trying to get the laser printer to work on the new computer. Turns out there's something wrong with the original configuration of the settings and I'll be making another trip back to the shop with it - possibly for a full refund.

I've had a bad day... so just before anyone else says "YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MAC", I have to make it clear that my patternmaking software doesn't run on Mac!!!! The Mac version SIMPLY DOESN'T EXIST.

So... on my desk today was a whole lot of frustration, wasted time, money and productivity....

You'll see more wonderfully creative desks if you follow the links from Kirsty's list.

Me...? I'm going to have a glass of wine and try to catch up on a day's work.

yes thats very true...there is lots of software that doesn't run with mac....and if it does it's triple the price... my kids hate that the games they like don't run on it...the plus side means more time for me on it...well that was before they found u-tube...

*&^*&%^*&*&^* That's me being mean to your new computer. It's frustrating as you get the new computer to make life easier and this is what it does. And you can visualise how much quicker and easier it will be and it's supposedly just around the corner that it's supposed to happen. Dang!
Crank the music if you can and wine it up!

LOL - I love my Mac, but I'm always amused by the Mac owners who feel that any computer problem wouldn't happen if you just had a Mac. I have fewer problems (and I don't need any specialized professional software, and I use shareware for what I do use) but it really isn't a magic bullet.

actually all new macs come with bootcamp- which- with a copy of windows vista or xp- allows you to run any windows programs.
I believe it is because of the intel chip thingie- i don't understand the technical bits- but I am able to run all my pc/windows programs on my mac with no problems.

If you are thinking a mac- it is worth visiting the apple shop at chadstone.

:)

i heart macs

How frustrating! Hope the wine helped and everything will be sorted real soon:)

Mac's are completely and totally overrated anyway. Just because they're so cute and shiny makes people let them get away with anything (even when they crash and do more weird sh*t than a PC!).

Anyway good luck with your puter probs. Nothing more frustrating than lost productivity.

oh crap. Sounds painful. I hope today is better.

Thanks for kind words..... :)

Before any more Mac evangelists add anything.... I'll add that the Mac users downstairs from my office bought the same printer as I did last year, and had the same issues that we had yesterday. It's more to do with the subtlety of the individual computer's settings - which had been fiddled-with or badly set up. We've had no problems with the printer on our other PC (with the same operating system as the new one).

PLEASE... no more Mac love. It really just annoys me.

i love your blog & reading about the incredible things you do & make. sincerely hope that the issues are resolved asap!

Bugger bugger bugger!!

If it's any consolation I'm a PC user and I don't have a problem with that! :D Yes, Mac's are lovely but we just have to weigh up the practicalities.

I'm sure you'll be nicely PC'd in no time!

sounds like you need chocolate too. And maybe ice cream. STUPID COMPUTERS.

Such a pain Nikki. I hope you've got it sorted out & the two of you have been speeding through those "in" trays.

What a pain! A glass of wine or three sounds like a good idea.

wow, here I was putting in semi-urgent orders and had noooo idea that you girls were struggling with this.

computers suck big time. yep, I'm taking a good half hour drive tomorrow to buy a new webcam since mine seems to have just burnt itself out???

but no, a mac wouldn't have helped that either and they are overrated in my opinion too. That extra $1000 or so could get me a LOT of fabric!!
