Then I went to GJ's to (..ahem.....) drop off some bag samples. I saw this cow print patchwork cotton for $12 per metre ("Oh, I'll have 2 metres, thanks....") and then I saw the pigs.... Unbelievably cute.
The nearly-four-year-old hand is used to show scale. The wee girl wants a "cow" dress and I'm thinking bibs for the pigs (and cow offcuts).
Now, to prove that it is not all obsessive fabric-buying for no apparent reason, here are the purses made today with my Pippijoe offcuts.... seen here yesterday.
A lovely (if sadly short-lived) relationship with new overseas suppliers has left us with half a ton of the wrong 200mm purse frame. The frames are slightly bigger and chunkier than the ones we ordered (ummm...using their production sample and saying "Yes, we'll have these ones, thanks".......!!??).
So (the short story is...) I've made a bigger, chunkier version of the purse. And - six toiles later - I like it.
More of my beautiful new fabrics will be cut up over the next week or so to make samples. Instructions will be tweaked and cover-art will be redone with new photos of new samples. And a new pattern will be born!
See...? I can justify anything!

Love your fabric selection Nikki!and I wish I could bounce back so "effortlessly" when I get something off the plan ;)
Darn it. I wish you sold your samples. Loving the pippijoe, and envying your need to re-stash! All justifiable for someone who makes a living from sewing... *sigh*
That cow print is adorable!
The fabric is awesome. Hmm, you've inspired me to go fabric "window" shopping on the net!
I like the cow print too. I also think the pigs are pretty cute and the first thing that popped into my head was bibs. The new purses also look great!
Your stash must be looking stash-tastic at the moment! A cow dress sounds pretty cute and you've certainly done justice to those gorgeous Pippijoe fabrics.
Love, love, love the fabric selection. Know you'll turn the pieces into something fabulous. Inspired by all your beautiful designs. How talented!
Oh, I'm so glad to see what you're fattening your stash with! You've chosen some fun and fantastic fabrics. I'm loving the purse with the pippijoe fabric. LOVE it.
I really like the chunky frame. The purses look great.
I'm sewing some summer stuff for Sib at the moment, the cow print would be up her alley too! What about a pinnie with a matching headscarf?? Cute..... And yep, agree with the piggy bibs, too cute! Though some fatty kids may get a complex (haha). How cute is the wee girl's hand?
Love those chunky frames and the fabric is very cool too - WOW
I really like the new frame. I just want to let you know that you have inspired me with all of the great things that you make and do!
I myself have also been on a "fabric diet" and I can't wait to re-stash the stash. The only thing to do now is figure out what to do with all those scraps. I can't imagine what your scrap bin must look like. :)
