The Bag With No Name.

"150mm Barrel Purse" just doesn't seem to cut it. This purse is a bit too cute..a bit too elegant.. a bit too versatile to be a barrel.

It's girly and fun as a structured handbag.

Versatile and practical with a detachable wrist strap.

It's elegant when it's dressed up for a wedding.
It can be anything from funky make-up purse to bridal accessory.... and it needs a name.

The best I could come up with was "Pop" (Pop Purse... kind-of has a ring to it, don't you think...?).

THE GIVEAWAY
If you can come up with a name that suits, we'll give you a kit. Leave your suggestions in the comment box.

THE RULES ARE:
1. No girl's names, thanks. We don't want any Charlotte or Frida bags here. We're into simple, snappy descriptive (or onomatopoeic) words.... take a peek at the rest of the pattern range and you'll get the idea.

2. Mr Random Number Generator doesn't get a look in here. In the end, it'll be down to what we in the studio think works best.

3. We have to make a decision sometime within the next week, so we'll review and discuss the suggestions as they come in. When one looks like a good fit we'll proclaim it the winner.

Failing that, I'm going to call it the Pop purse.... so please come up with something better.
Edited to add - WOW! Lots of food for thought there... Haven't had time today to really think about any of it, so there's still time to add your two-cent's worth if you have a name you think might fit.
Just thought I'd mention that we already have a Teardrop purse and a Snap purse in the pattern range - so it's best if we avoid those words for this one. Oh - and I should also add that a SINGLE word is best... like Pop?

  2. I was thinking something along the lines of "Wristlet Jam Roll"? Good Luck!

  3. Hi Nikki, it simply must be The Cameo bag!!! It is such a beautiful sytle. Cheers Fiona

  4. The bag reminds me of "Sunday". A perfect bag for church, or brunch, or visiting, even the movies.

  5. Love the purse design and all its varitiations - such a versatile design. The best I can come up with at this time of night is "Jazz" "Bubble" or "Click"
Good luck in finding the perfect name!

  6. I think it should be called "Tart" as it will go anywhere! hugs Dawn

    ReplyDelete
  7. For a small bag it looks like you an fit plenty of stuff in it so I think you should call it something that indicates that. "Plentiful Purse", "More Than Just Lipstick", "Roomy Reach For". Are those any good :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. I totally LOVE this bag! I would simply call it 'on the go' bag or 'on a roll' bag. hee hee Can't wait to hear what you decide on.

  9. Hi Nikki-
What a great bag! How about "Clever Chic" or to expand on your"simple" name "Poshly Pop".
    Gotta have one!

  10. Such a cute bag ... the kind my mom would recommend ... big enough for just the essentionals (in her day a lipstick, comb, dime for a phone call and a hankie ... today we'd probably replace the dime with the much bigger cell phone, the hankie with tissues but still) ... I love your bagette bag ... and thought that continuing in the pastry vein and the direction you seem to be heading this could be the popover purse ... for when you're just popping in, out or over.

  11. I'm digging "Lunch Date" or "Girls Night" Purse or something along those lines. Totally not the bag you grab for trolling the mall with your kidlets, but perfect for just having your essentials when you're going out!

    ReplyDelete
  12. How about "Teardrop Purse" as it reminds me of the shape of those cute little Teardrop Travel Trailers (or caravans, as you say in Australia).
Or Rollette sounds good too (goes with Baguette!)
Whatever you name it, it's adorable! I can't wait to try one!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm going to go with Nestle. It looks like you can nestle a lot of stuff down in there, in cushy comfort!

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's small and simple -- a wardrobe staple like the classic LBD (Little Black Dress), so I propose you call it the LBB (Little Barrel Bag).

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Cask? It reminds me of the little barrels the st bernard dogs carry! Or the Drum Pruse

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lots of good suggestions already. It's a really great bag Nikki, I'll definitely be making this one for my friends down the track. I was thinking Pipe Clutch/purse, but that sounds a little utilitarian. Perhaps Rondelle if you're after a softer name (like the Bagette).

  17. I have a whole bunch of ideas. Not sure if any of them are right, but here goes....

Indie purse as you can only fit your own stuff in there and I've never seen another one like it, so it's a bit Independent.

    Urban Chic?

Lolly Pop, because it sort of expands on your idea, but slightly in a different direction.

    Rondo, Rollo...

Revelation because wasn't it this one (or the smaller version?) where you came by a whole new way of doing things?

  18. This bag is so cute. Why don't you sell this in the US? Anyway, I had a couple of thoughts- Chiklet or Sushi roll. I didn't realize it but they are closely related to food- must be hungry.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Have just found your site, its wonderful.
Thought "The Swinger purse" might work!
Thanks for all the great ideas.

  20. How about The Two Smokin' Barrels Bag?
    OR
    Roundabout Bag?
    OR
    Candy Roll Bag?
    OR
    Revival Bag?
    OR
    Tea and Biscuits Bag?

  21. Just had another idea... how about barrel translated into another language...

    barile (Italian)
    barril (Spanish)
    baril (French)

I'd like to take a moment to thank the online translator for its help!

  22. Not really helping my odds in the giveaway, I have to say that I'm quite found of Pop... barring that.

    "Date Bag"

Perfect for a first date and a wedding, and all of the days inbetween. According to a friend, "guys get really turned off by women who drag those really big slouchy bags on a first day. you take them to dinner and they look like they're about to move in... " This barrel bag looks just about right!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I would call it the "Trinket purse". It's small and cute and makes me think of small, cute things like trinkets.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think it looks like a 'Snap Happy' bag. Just think it suits it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Alotta.... you know, 'alotta' purse. Maybe, sorry it was the first word that popped into my mind!

    ReplyDelete
  34. i actually like the name "barrel" as it describes the shape of the purse. but you could also call it "curvy purse" :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can I have two goes?

Bonbon - is good, sweet and opens with a pop!

Pippi - open and shuts, and I think pippi purse has snappy appeal

Lots of good names in the comments though!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, I'm going to say "POPPET" because you can "pop it" over your arm, "pop it" over your hand with the little wrist strap and lots of stuff can be "popped in".

    ReplyDelete
  37. Classy Clasp?

    Click Clack?

Snappy Style (no wait, that sounds like a nappy bag)

Urgh, I suck at thinking of names for things

  39. I know someone who'd just love this design. How about "the sweetie bag" as I would say if I were back in Scotland, as it definitely reminds me of lollies?
    Helen

    ReplyDelete
  40. How about the glamour purse/puss???
    Or elegant barrel purse?

It reminds me of old vintage chic .
    Grace Kelly kind of elegance.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think you can go past the name you have already come up with.

The Big Barrel Pop Purse pretty much describes it - unless of course you are going to design are larger one in which case Medium Barrel Pop Purse would be good. :)

    Love the design either way.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was going to suggest the Rolo (like the chocolates!) but I see someone has already proposed a similar name. Lots of good options here though, I hope you get the name you're after :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ok. Here goes. I know you said no girls names, but technically this isn't really a girls name...

    The Poppins Purse
(the purse to 'pop' everything in and (like Mary Poppins magical bag) it looks like it would hide all sorts of treasures.
    ...just an idea!
Hope you are well Nikki. Pretty busy here, I have just written a note to give you a call and organise to drop by and say hi. Had meant to do it ages ago. Take care.

  45. my suggestions are:
    teardrop clutch
    or
50's clutch (as it looks like you should wear a nice yet funky frock while using it... and definately sit the whole time with your feet and knees nicely placed together!)

    can I suggest

    "Party Purse"

    ReplyDelete
  51. How fun to read at all this ideas! This is a very cute bag...
    I would say
"La flute" because in French we have la baguette et la flute which is a smaller baguette version ;)and also it sounds "chic","feminin" and curvy!
    Have fun Nikki!;)

  52. How about Sunday Best? I know its 2 words :( My first thought was Sunday Go to Meeting Purse and that's way too long. I love it whatever you call it.

  53. Hi Nikki,
How about the KISS bag? It has a kiss clasp plus it is just the right size to carry on a date which, hopefully, will end with a goodnight kiss as charming and lovable as this bag!

  54. Lady Laura...this bag is funky but proper...just simple and perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I read the other posts to make sure no one had posted my idea. There are a couple similar, but I still like mine-what about simply 'Snap'? The Snap Bag. You can make it in a snap, and you just snap it and go!

Anyway-it's a Darling bag! (oh! There's another idea!)
    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  56. How about "Tubular"? (posted on behalf of Kathy Plumley who is away from her computer)

    ReplyDelete
  57. The name that popped into my head was Dublin, but that's not exactly descriptive. The Round Roll? It's lovely, by the way!

    ReplyDelete

  63. I thought I added a comment yesterday, but I can't see it here, so I'm sorry if this comes through twice...

I was thinking the Versa Purse as the pattern seems so versatile, as is the actual purse itself.

Whatever you name it, it is very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You have mentioned 'Snap' and 'Pop' - do you have a 'Crackle' yet? (childhood memories of a very famous trio)

  69. I think "Pop Purse" really works-- It has the feeling of teh sound of opening the purse, the idea that you can just "pop" your essentials into it, and the freedom of "popping" down the street for a coffee, or out for some rack slapping. Just call it the "Pop Purse"
    Jo
