And the bride wore black...

While unpacking a few more boxes this weekend I found a photo from my wedding day - all creased and torn (a bit like that marriage ended up...).

I've always loved this image, because it sums up the day perfectly. It's of the full bridal party sliding down the Helter Skelter on Brighton pier (in the UK). It was Summer and we were young and beautiful. We felt like we'd be that way forever.

I also love the way the camera caught my sewing buddy's hair in full flight... (and reminds me just how long we've been friends!).

That's me in the middle with the long black hair... what happened to that??

It's amazing what you find when you move house.

  1. What a fantastic picture. You have my admiration going down that treacherous ride! It must have been a really fun day.

The pier and that bit of the seaside is one of my very favourite places (Mr HB hails from nearby).

  3. Kinda reminds me of when I found a photo amongst Hans' things. It looked a bit like a freak show and when I asked him about it, that's when he fessed up to having had been wed for a couple of months to a groupie (this was during his punk rock days!). We still have that damned picture.

  6. What a fun photo! I guess one benefit of moving is rediscovering treasures like these.

Hope you're getting happily settled into your new digs.

  8. Great picture! You are a braver woman than I! We used to live in Brighton and just watching people on that ride made me feel sick! We took our wedding invitation photo on Brighton Pier. Cheesy, but unique.

  9. Absolutely cool and groovy in every way...except the breaking up bit!
I'm now going to look at my Helter Skelter print while I brush my teeth and think of you. xliz

I LOVE to read your comments and they brighten my day. I can't respond unless your profile has an email address attached, though... And some days I simply don't have time to respond.... but I respond in a telepathic sort of way to each and every comment.
