Behind the scenes...

... is chaos. Utter chaos. Moving house is NEVER fun, and that's what we're doing here.

My computer is not set up yet (my desk has been recommissioned as a kitchen bench until we sort out something else) and the internet won't be connected until "some time between 9am and 1pm on Friday... and it could take up to four hours to install because we're laying new cable. Will you be able to be home for that time?" (Yeah, like I don't have business to run or anything else that I might like to be doing).

My super-slow laptop is on a super-slow mobile modem and I can't seem to load any images (not even to Flickr). Leaving a blog comment takes a good ten minutes. I haven't been able to stay after work to use the computers at the studio for blogging because I've been too busy chasing utility companies, cleaning ovens and bathrooms, and trying to stop a three-year-old from unpacking the boxes I've just packed (or re-packing the boxes I've just unpacked...depending on the house we're in). Things are not running smoothly.

Bear with me. Normality will return... I hope. Sorry for this little interruption in my blogging schedule.

I you're wondering what we're up to at work, we're testing the new Fedora hat pattern and reworking the instructions and pattern accordingly. Check out what super-tester Sooz has done here and here.

And watch this space...

  2. Yuk! Moving is NEVER fun. I've always thought I'd love to have the millions of dollars needed to get someone else to organise everything while I stay in a luxurious hotel room :-) That way, I could move into my new home with phone, internet, electricity, gas and all my lovely things unpacked without having to lift a finger. Wouldn't that be devine? Unfortunately it's not quite how life works :-) Hold strong, Miss Nikki- it'll be a gorgeous crafty space when you're done!!

  3. Moving house is bad enough ... but moving house when you have littlies is the pits. Been there, done that, and don't plan on doing it again until they can drive the moving van for us. I hope you finish the unpacking quickly so you can get back to everyday life!

  4. This is one of those times where you need to look ahead, say 1 month. Imagine yourself somewhere in your new house, sitting back with a glass of your drink-of-choice, watching your girl happily playing in her new space, thinking... "I can't believe we've been here a month already." Moving will be a distant memory as new ones are being created in your new home.

PS... thanks for the inspiring comments! xx

  5. Ah Nikki, such sheer frustrating agony!! I too know what it's like moving with a little one and it's not fun. I empathize wholeheartedly!! Stick with it. Chant the mantra, 'This too shall pass' and as My Black Cardigan said, before you know it this will be a distant memory!! Good luck!!!

  7. Yuk! I really feel your pain. I just moved from a 3 bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment. It took me THREE MONTHS to empty, clean, and paint and I hated every second! Although I have to admit I didn't have a little one in my way. Good Luck!!

  8. Eeuuw! The thing is that you know it'll be worth it in the long run, but the stress you have to go through to achieve it isn't fair really!

Keep smiling, and remember to take some time to smell the roses - or a BIG sip of red!!

  9. We've just moved house ourselves. Moving sucks big-time, especially with little kids. Having a housewarming party to look forward to really helped though. Hope its as quick and painless as possible for you.

  10. Thanks all for your support! I'm trying to focus on the point at which all is settled in the new house and I can find things again.

  12. Hope your move is going well and you are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. At least it is now the weekend and you will (hopefully) have time to settle in. Sounds a bit too good to be true!
    Talk soon Nikki,
    Cinta xx

I LOVE to read your comments and they brighten my day. I can't respond unless your profile has an email address attached, though... And some days I simply don't have time to respond.... but I respond in a telepathic sort of way to each and every comment.
