Some of the best bags photographed badly... and some of them (like the one below) are too much like another pattern cover.....
Things that look great in real life look a bit DULL when you try to reduce reflection on PVC....
Then there are cases of "Am I completely biased OR does everyone think this is the best print ever...?"
Same print, different colourway (I'm like that...). Is this colour combination likely to attract or repel...?One for the blokes. This fabric SCREAMS Ikea, I think. Probably not my ideal choice for the cover pic but I thought I should put it in there.
Mind you - this weight of Ikea furnishing fabric is IDEAL for this design, and it's hard-wearing... and cheap.
OK - so I need your help here..... Let me know which you'd prefer and you're in the barrel for the pattern giveaway. Even if you're already in the draw you can have another go!!

My personal favorite is the second one, the red bag....
ReplyDeleteI like the orange and green!
ReplyDeleteI like the pinky mauve photo the best.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried this pattern with a patterned body fabric and plain flap?? I'd like to see the difference it makes.
Decisions, decisions! You are worried about the red flower bag looking like another pattern.... but the fabric is beautiful. And it must be one you love to have used it again. That bag gets my vote for the pattern cover. If I had to pick a second, it would be the one underneath with the tan background. Good luck... I look forward to seeing your choice....
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely No. 4 is the best (pink, red and white on blue grey).
ReplyDeleteI like them all, but for a cover, probably the third one. I guess it all depends on what else is on the cover and the colors in your logo, you know?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the grey/blue one with the pink flowers the best!! Awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe orange and green looks deadset HOT - my stand out favourite!
ReplyDeleteWow! I like them all (not very much help, huh?) Well, I am particularly partial to the first two but having to choose just one, I would go with the second, the red/white floral. Great bag!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm a big sucker for Ikea fabric, and think that it has photographed the best out of the bags you have there, so if you're happy to use that, that's what I recommend!
ReplyDeleteHey Nikki, they are all so very cool, but I would have to say that #4 (pink/purple) is probably the one that catches my eye the most. Totally a hot bag!
ReplyDeleteLove the third on but also really love the last one with Ikea fabric... Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI really like the Purple one, very girly.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the orange/pink on green bag for the laptop bag pattern cover!
ReplyDeleteLove them all!

I think the first pic of the turqoise ladies is great attention getter!
ReplyDeleteHi, I like the 4th one the best, pink/purple colours. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou expect us to choose from gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, and gorgeous?!? OK then, I love both the pink and purple one and the Ikea bag, but will probably go for the Ikea one as it looks such a stunning photo. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIKEA all the way baby! it looks very stylish and not too girly - absolutely love it :)
ReplyDeleteI like the third picture the best! Well I like them all really but the 3rd is my top choice.
ReplyDeleteWell... I like the last one, but it depends what else is going on the cover? What is the type like? My two cents!!! Yippee, they all look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThis is hard, I like all of them, but I'm pretty sure my favorite is the bright orange Alexander Henry fabric one.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there's going to be a fairly even split! I love love love the orange print, definitely doesn't repel me :) Though it would be sort of nice to have a blokey design on this one, I can understand not wanting to use the 'screams Ikea' print. Um... make another bag?!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the RED one, but then I am a Red kind of old gal. Second fave...the IKEA one. Guess who's going to IKEA this weekend ???
ReplyDeleteHey Nikki, I see your dilemma. Such a difficult decision. The red bag and the brown bag and the black are all great universal colours and I think would appeal to lots of people as they look smart and classy. They would go with almost any wardrobe. I love the purple bag. The colours are very eye catching and funky (as are the orange/green combo). However, I think they would limit the audience appeal. Anyhow, this is just my opinion. Overall, I think for versitility either black or red (both photograph well) or purple (very funky) depending on the type of audience you want to attract.
ReplyDeleteSorry if I rambled too much. Good luck with your decision.
Jodi xox
They are all great but I think my personal fav is Number 4. Colour. Pattern. Everything. is just right
ReplyDeleteHmmmm-- SUCH a tough decision, indeed. My favorites are #5 & #3... and in that order. It doesn't help for me to say that I REALLY like them all, though does it? LOL
ReplyDeleteDecisions, decisions.
Even though it is similar to another bag, I would still go with the red/white floral. I think it will attract the most positive attention. There is just that 'something' about it that really appeals to the eye!
ReplyDeleteThat said, my personal favorite is the last one, the grey/white Ikea-like print. I'm a sucker for anything black and white.
I have a large laptop-a 17-inch. Could the pattern be adjusted easily for a laptop this size?
Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your awesome patterns!
I like the red and white but see your point about it looking like the other panel, so my next choice is the orange bag. I has the "wow factor" to work for a pattern cover.
ReplyDeleteDefinately the orange one. Nice bright warm colour will attract the eye. The mauve one is nice but not eye catching enough for a front cover.
ReplyDeleteI like the the first one... blue with ladies silhouettes. Sylish enough to bring out in a corporate boardroom but also fun enough to use with jeans when surfing the net at the local coffee shop at breakfast on Sunday morning. To me, it shows that this pattern is chic enough to be sewn for every occasion.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one because it looks a bit funkier!
ReplyDeleteI really want the red one, so if I saw that on a pattern I'd buy it. Second choice would be the Ikea bag. Apart from the fact that it is a great fabric choice, it also shows that it's not just a ladies bag pattern.
ReplyDeleteGood luck choosing!
I think I have to go for the orange & green ... It looks funky & gorgeous as well as being very eye catching for something that will be a cover item !
ReplyDeleteBut I do also join the ranks of " I LOVE THEM ALL !!!! " ....
Decisions, decisions !
I love the purple the best, and then the Ikea one would be my second fave. Good luck choosing, doesn't look like it will be easy!
ReplyDeleteThe grey and the orange ARE the best print evah! Either one would be great, but I think the orange has a little more Grab-you-from-across- the-room power. So that's got my vote. As one who is getting twitchy from IKEA withdrawal, I think the last one is pretty darn cool too.
ReplyDeleteIn order of preference (personal, putting aside not knowing what else will go on the cover of the pattern (font, design, other colourings ect...)

Nikki, all are splendiferous however I would have to choose the orange and green, ultra funky and would appeal to the uni types as well as the work types. it is really really really luvverley!
ReplyDeleteNikki, tried to post and it wouldn't let me, they are all spectacular. However the orange and green is a hands down winner in my opinion. Would appeal to the uni set, mums, workers - everyone. It is totally luvverley!!!! Fiona L.
ReplyDeleteThe last one with the Ikea fabric is simply perfect. It photographed the best by far, particularly with the pattern continuity from the bag to the flap. (Although if I were making the bag for myself, I might choose the orange/purple/green combo!)
ReplyDeleteSurely you aren't going to read all these comments and take any notice of what we say Nikki??? BUT... Just in case you do:
ReplyDelete1) Love, love , love the Ikea fabric the most, however, wouldn't use it on the pattern cover. You want to sell NMD, not advertise big Swedish company with enough money to advertise themselves (unless of course they want to do a deal!!!).
2) Don't really want to say which one - you are a stylish lady and I'm sure you know in your heart of hearts which one to choose.
3) OK, you asked for it, so IMHO the red floral.
Clever you. Now I just want all those tips on working with pvc (disaster over here on the week end).
Cheers,
MissyP
Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteThey all look fantastic, but I like the 1st one because it is a little different to the rest, and I also like the red one.
any decision you make will be fantastic.
Lizette
I love the Ikea fabric on the bag the most, but for the pattern probably the red and white. Can't wait to see the pattern
ReplyDeleteNikki, they are all stunning (as always) but my vote has to be the first one (blue ladies) - it is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteKylie in Canberra
Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteas always a great desgin and one that I am looking forward to doing! Your patterns are certainly the best of all that I have tried.
I would go the purple one - in the majority the guys would get a lady to make it for them?!?!
Heather, New Zealand
I am IN LOVE with #1. It's just so different and chic and it has that Je ne sais quoi! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOrange/Green one really pops out the most to me. Great bags.
ReplyDeleteThe very first one is my favourite, hands down.
ReplyDeleteThird picture down (brown and blue floral) is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI like the orange and green one the best, followed by the Ikea one and third is the blue and purple one.
ReplyDeleteI love the orange and green one :) My kind of colours :)
ReplyDeleteI like #4 - the pink and mauve. But I am also really partial to the Ikea fabric. Some of my favourite colours. Good luck with making a decision
ReplyDeleteI really like the orange and green- funky. Next, I like the IKEA. Can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeletei like #4 the best :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the Ikea - I think it will appeal to those who aren't fussed on florals - it's contemporary & commercial- not dull and not too floral.
ReplyDeleteThe 'best print ever' bag with the plum colourway/flowers. And I also love the last ikea print. I'd love that bag!!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff as usual Nikki. :D
I love the third one, the brown floral.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the orange one too - stands out and looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern BTW
Jxx
Honestly for myself I'd pick either the blue or the beige one to carry. But for a COVER... I'd say, go with the beige floral. It's got enough to hint that it could be a kicky bag and wont' be passed over for being blah, but it's tame enough that it won't be passed over by those who are into something a little calmer, and don't want it to look like thier kids' schoolbag. It's also not so girly that you can't see it could be a guy-bag. I think that one could have the most universal appeal.
ReplyDeleteReally hard as they each appeal in their own way.(spoken like a true fabric-holic!!) The orange/green pops out, the pink purple looks georgeous(and isn't the floral to die for!?), the blue is so interesting, but in terms of what i would like to make, i think the last one is both funky/interesting and very wearable!!! Yep, the last one gets my vote. Phew, that was hard!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe purple one definitely. If not that one then the one with the blue flowers immediately preceding the purple one. I'm in love with these!
ReplyDeleteDefinately the red and white floral. It's striking! I don't think it really matters that it is similar to an eisting pattern. At the end of the day if it's the one that speaks to you it'll do the same for your customers.
ReplyDeleteNo 3 would be my traditional favourite as I love brown and blue together and I think it will appeal to a wide range....BUT then the red one is very striking!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the orange! I think it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue mod girls and just to contrast that, love the grey Ikea print too! The last one is so 'Melbourne'!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteLoving the look of this bag.Would so love to be the winner !
I prefer the purple/ mauve bag photo..it is gorgeous and has photographed well..
Decisions..decisions...Good luck !!
Cheers, Peta-Jane
I like the last bag - even though it's not as colorful, it's very striking... it's gorgeous! If you're looking for a more colorful cover I like the purple one!
ReplyDeleteI think the orange one is stunning, but the mauve colourway is gorgeous too & possibly a 'safer' choice. i would be happy to have any of them on my shoulder!
ReplyDeleteNumber 4, followed closely by number 3...
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki, even though I am a pink girl at heart, I do like the blue and brown one. I really love this colour combination and I think it would be the best for your new pattern cover.
ReplyDeleteI love all of them but #4 really stood out. My 11 year old son even thinks they are cool - "if it was in, you know, guy fabric"
ReplyDeleteCheers Jackie
The orange & green!
ReplyDeleteI like the orange and green one best.
ReplyDeleteI love the purple floral print and the green/orange colourway. I think if I had to pick one it would be the purple one. I would carry most of them. Every new pattern you release is my new favourite!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Melissa
Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI like the orange and green laptopbag. It catches the eye. I have been waiting for the pattern since you first showed the bag on you blog and it looks great.
//Kristina
My fave is definitely the orange and pink floral teamed with green. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is the brown bag with the blue flowers, but I also love the Ikea bag. The pattern placement is very cool.
ReplyDeleteorange and green should always be seen!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one, I'd feel comfortable taking that one to work - showy but not OTT, so I'd be inclined to make it. Also bright enough to catch my eye on the website.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd love the second one with a black bag and red flowery flap.
Hey Nikki... you aren't making it easy for us are you?
ReplyDeleteI would always go the red, but I also really like the last one. Would love to see that with solid black and patterned flap (as if you don't have enough to do!)
I will be dropping by to visit you at the Stitches and Craft show - and hope to catch your zip class too. Look forward to seeing you there.
Jacinta
Hard decision, but I prefer the purple/mauve.
ReplyDeleteYou clever bees had made so many...
Kind regards
Hilde
I'm definitely voting for "the best print ever"!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI like the bag made of the Ikea fabric as it would appeal to a wider range of people. The design and colours of the fabric compliment the design of the bag.
I really like the brown one. Love the flowers. It is a neutral and would get a lot of use.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the 6th bag. I love the color combination.
ReplyDeleteJoyce in NC
After reading all of these comments I think you're going to just have to draw a number! I love all of them but I'll start with # 4and then # 6. Good Luck, it's a fabulous bag.
ReplyDeleteSo many responses! My favorite # 4 and then 2. But they're all lovely. Looks like a great pattern again.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the 4th one - the mauve one. Actually I love this print in orange as well, but I like the mauve bag more.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to pick no. 5 (orange and green). It's funky, and the colour and movement of the print really make the bag jump off the screen.
ReplyDeleteThe mauve would also look good but I think it depends on the demographic of sewers and giftees. the mauve print might appeal to the person sewing the bag, though the orange and green print may be the one that grabs the eye of the giftee.
Just love the red one and I think it looks different enough to use. second choice would be the brown one no 3
ReplyDeleteI think the last three look great, particularly the floral design (lolly pink coloured flower)with purple strap etc....the "mens" looks good too...
ReplyDeletecheers Jacinta
My preference is for number 3!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely bag #5, the orange/pink on green. It's so vibrant and stunning!
ReplyDeleteHannah
The pink and purple floral one as it is eyecatching and looks funky yet sophisticated! my second choice is the red as it is such a classic colour combination, but dare i say a little boring in comparison?
ReplyDeletethe only problem with owning such a beautful bag is that i would have to upgrade my daggy laptop as it would look very uncool when pulled out of such a beautiful bag!!!
also LOVE the PVC. then can use beautiful prints and not be concerned that will spill my coffee and ruin it.

ReplyDeleteHoley Moley.... there's a pretty even split here. I've made my decision now and will be drawing the winner any moment - the draw is closed. STAY TUNED!
ReplyDeleteThird photograph from the top is my favourite one....it would be stunning as the pattern cover photo!
ReplyDeleteI like the final one...how do I get it???
