A slight obsession with A-line skirts

It's a tad addictive..... and I'm still tweaking the pattern to make the perfect panel skirt.

Edited to add: It's a pattern that I drafted and am tweaking to fit perfectly (and be made quickly). I sorely lacked a good basic skirt pattern for those "oops I wore the wrong thing to work" moments last year, so I want to be prepared this year.

Thanks to Lara for taking the pics (in a disused classroom at the BBI.... fantastic light, terrible floor...).

  2. Ah but obsession is the wellspring of genius!

The floor may well be a bit dodgy ... but heck who was looking past those gorgeous skirts?

  3. Gorgeous! I especially like the last one. Is it your own pattern, or are you tweaking someone else's?

  6. Fabulous skirts! I especially love the last one which is funny as I have a black panel skirt with the same feature fabric (different colourway) by Maiocchi :)

  15. I love the black one too.
Don't suppose you could do a wrap around variation?I've been looking for an A-line wrap skirt pattern but they all seem to have too much flare.

  18. I bought the fabric at GJ's... only I bought what was left on the bolt, sorry.

Melanie (above) tells me the design is by Maiocchi. I forgot to check before I cut off the selvage.

  19. Love the skirts. I could wear these at home in the evenings, especially if I did a bit more exercise to tone up this tummy of mine. The skirts are beautiful. Tell us more.

  21. Love all your A-line skirts, but the panels are my favorites. Wish I had a sewing machine at work. I would never do my actual work! Imagine sewing something quickly and changing you outfit to match the weather outside - that is, of course, the opposite of the weather forecast! Today is one of those days in Johannesburg. Weather forecast was 26 to 30 degrees celcius, but guess what? It is freezing and overcast outside! Me sitting her with open sandals and a short-sleeved top and no jersey or jacket to match!

  22. Sooooo - when is this Nikki pattern available for purchase?? Seriously? Went looking for patterns today, but those "store" patterns don't hold my hand like you do.

And I need my hand held, ya know?

  23. Love the design, love A-lines, but they can be so hard to find in non mumsy styles.
Where can I find the pattern? Are you still sharing it?

I LOVE to read your comments and they brighten my day. I can't respond unless your profile has an email address attached, though... And some days I simply don't have time to respond.... but I respond in a telepathic sort of way to each and every comment.
