Getting there.....

Lately, there have been a record number of Express Post parcels and emails to and from the publishers, each one promising to be the "last thing".

I'm assuming that eventually one of these things will indeed be the last and that the book will be going to press on schedule (mid-December for a May-June 2011 release). It's been a huge project for me, the editors and designers, but it appears that there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us.

I feel blessed to be given this enormous opportunity by HarperCollins and I can't wait to see the book on the shelf. (I'll also be glad not to have to take too many more up-close-and-personal photos of the same projects).

There has also been much (hypothetical) list-ticking in the moving-business-and-home departments.
  • Utility and telecommunication providers, post offices, various suppliers and council representatives have been contacted. Things have been arranged. Cancelled. Connected. Redirected. Informed. Ordered. Delivered.
  • Kids' parties have been attended... in a "Summer of Endless 5-year-old's Parties" kind of way. (I've embraced the time as an opportunity to catch up on some crochet... and in one instance to leave the kid and go off to vote).
  • Workshops for next year are beginning to book up (and out). More are scheduled - on my calendar.... (There are plans to upload them to the website ASAP).
  • The truck is booked to move house this weekend. (Hmmmm.... perhaps we'd best get packing...?)
  • Kid-starting-school organisation will have to wait until next week. At least we have the forms now (which is one step closer than we were at the beginning of the week).

And I finished the flower yoke top. I took advantage of a moment of weakness (a listless-virus-infected-kid moment) to get the wee girl to actually WEAR it. It's lacking the preferred mid-calf hemline (the new clothing rule), so it took a virus (and a spot of emotional blackmail) to get her to ...errrrrm.... cooperate (?) for the photos.

So, I'm down to first-gear and ploughing my way up the final steep slope toward the end of 2010.
We'll be closing for the xmas hols on the 22nd December and opening again on 10th Jan 2011.

Poor kid! My number one was the same for the first two or three years of her life. She didn't want to wear anything that I had created for her because that horrible machine took me away from her. Now she can't get enough of my sewing and photography! My last big move I was still packing when the movers were moving. Hope your weekend is better than that and next year is quieter for you in that way. Cherrie

Hope the wee girl is feeling better. Good luck with the move this weekend. Hopefully it's the last one for a very long time.

I hope everything goes to plan eventually. I am very excited to maybe come and visit you when you reopen in January. I will be travelling 2500km to see you so you better be!!!! I check your blog everyday and find so much inspiration. I live in the middle of Australia, in the desert away from shops that are fun like yours!!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours, hope to meet you in person soon XXX

Maybe breathing more than once a year would be a good plan for 2011?

Hope the wee girl is soon better! (and keeps her germs to herself!!)

Cheers,
AJ

The end of the year always seems a rush and for you it is is way full on. Hope you have a good rest in Jan. I will be sewing for a market stall so I had better get my orders in before you close otherwise I won't have anything to put on it lol. Hope the little one is better soon, my kids have been sick too on and off the last couple of weeks I think they just get too tired at the end of the final term and have too many social/school commitments for their bodies to cope.

Merry Christmas Nikki to you and yours. Good luck with the move, remember to discard items you haven't used in the last 2 years. We moved the beginning of the year and I did that (it was a cleansing), only thing when I looked for certain things, I realised I have thrown them out!! Book sounds great, can't wait to buy.

Poor Wee Girl! But I'm glad we got to see the top - it's gorgeous!

What is it with birthdays this time of year? I know I'm not helping either but we didn't plan it that way!

I'm so impressed with all you've achieved this year, especially in the past few weeks. Your holiday is VERY well earned!

It's a shame that your daughter was ill but at least she has some new and trendy clothing. It is very colorful. Thank you for sharing and posting pictures.

"You Sew Girl" is an understatement.
"You go and don't seem to stop girl" is more apt.
Well done on the book and make sure that those feet go up on something soft at some point for a rest!
