Unbelievable......

See how many free patterns - written by generous craftspeople and given to the community for free - that this Etsy seller is flogging as their own....?

I'm speechless. And quite peeved.. (Yes - that's my pyramid purse up there!).

Thanks to those of you who drew my attention to this. If you spot your own pattern up there, I suggest you contact Etsy.

That is truly unbelievable. Someone has quite the brass neck alright.

Wow . . . even the photographs were stolen. The thief didn't even bother to make up her own item from the pattern.

Grrrr!!

Much empathy! I'm a freelance writer and photographer, and have had my work stolen more times than I can count...and it STILL makes steam come out of my ears Every Single Time!

That is disgusting! I hope Etsy removes them from the site and bans them from ever selling again! You should convo them to see if they have the guts to respond to you!

Amazing!! I recognize some of the free Amy Butler patterns up there. This makes me sick!

Glad I'm not alone on those feelings, folks. Thanks for your support.

I really don't think this shop is going to last long before Etsy shuts it down.

I'm shocked that the seller wasn't even smart enough to make her own version of these stolen patterns. She has no defense! I hope etsy hammers her.

Holy cow they even have up heather cailey's bitty booties, and amy butlers Business card holder. That is discusting.

Goodness ! the business card holder pattern is indeed Amy Butler's, she (he ?) even stole the picture ! I'm speechless, so sorry for your own stolen design.

Just recognized patterns from the Uhandbag blog, geez, that makes me sick.

Unbelievable!!! I recognize half of the patterns there as freebies that truly creative people have been kind enough to share with the rest of us. I hope Etsy removes the seller soon.

FYI - The shop is empty now.

Nikki, I'm so sorry!!! I mean, if she had MADE something from the free patterns...I could see how she might feel justified in selling the items. It could be an honest mistake.

But selling free patterns? Crazy. Just CHEEKY.

Some people are just jerks--I see she has taken them all down. How did she think she would be able to get away with that?

I just checked and everything has been removed from the Etsy store. I can't believe some people.

Hmmm, at least it is all over this morning! What an absolute nerve...Half of blogland had things taken it would seem.

I am not sure what to say... which I think says it all. Please don't ever get tired of chasing things like this up.

They didn't even change the photo!

Good on you Nikkie, looks like the shop is closed, at least, they now have no products listed.

I would feel such shame to do that to someone else, don't know how they do it.

Love your work!
Lisa

Nikki, you've just demonstrated people power in action. Good for you and to all who make a noise about ideas theft.

The one on the left is from Martha Stewart!!! Gee I wouldn't want to be taking on MARTHA!!

I hope the shop gets shut down as well as emptied. People are really unbelievable.

Leonie said...

just checked and apparently the seller no longer has an account at Etsy so it seems that at least on one level it has been dealt with. So sorry that it happened in the first place.

Michelle said...

Ahhhh, the power of the human spirit and the scorned craft fraternity and the wonders of technology that allow us to universally act upon such a blatant act of stupidity and theft.

Hi! My name is erica. Would you be my friend? said...

That makes me sad... If it were my patten I'd be so angry! I'm glad Etsy (apparently) took care of it.

That was really a horrid thing to do, wasn't it?

Eve said...

Woah - that was nervy! Glad it was caught and removed!!

Shosh said...

Not only does that person have no items in their shop - they no longer have a valid user account. Yay.

Elizabeth said...

Unbelievable. Glad you told Etsy, hope the person behind it is permanently banned not just that account closed. What a fool too, as if people who shop & browse on Etsy wouldn't be aware of craft blogging, s/he was going to get rumbled pretty quickly.

Lisa from U-Handblog just posted about this situation too. 5 of her patterns were stolen. I can't believe they were stupid enough to think they wouldn't be caught. Etsy should make them pay each of you back for the profits they made.
