Breathing it in...

I'm about to leave my baby for SIX WHOLE DAYS. It's hard to imagine it.

We've spent the weekend baking, doing craft activities and sewing ...and I've snatched as many cuddles, kisses and squeezes as I could.

Together we made pyjamas from the frog fabric she insisted I buy last week at Spotlight. We found a co-ordinating stripe in a cotton jersey and made a top with a frog pocket. She kept them on all afternoon (including to Safeway... where she was last seen wearing an upside-down orange coat) and they were so grubby by bedtime she had to change into clean pj's.

We photographed the paper shirt she made for her Daddy during the week. I had to document it. I cut the basic shape for her and left her to it while I was flapping about mid-week. She demanded buttons, sticky tape and a glue-stick, and I came back to find this gorgeous work.

I love the button holes... and the pockets. Well-observed for a 3-year-old, I thought.

Today she drew a picture of "a car at a pedestrian crossing"...

..and a cat.

These are to make me happy while I'm in Sydney.... They make me smile every time I look at them.
I'm going to miss my wee girl this week.

Oh Nikki... your heart wont break. It will just hurt a little until the wee girl cuddles you again when you get home.

I forsee lots of phone calls to a 3 year old gal.... lots of kisses over the phone. Lots of good night phone calls. You'll both get through it and just imagine the cuddles when you get home! And I'm impressed with the shirt and the car pic. Very good work!!

I can imagine how you feel. Sometimes you'd just want to put them in little boxes and take them with you all the time, to protect them and softly hug them every moment of the day, don't you think? :-) You will both be okay. And I bet after the week you will be hugging again like crazy!

Yes, you will miss her! But you'll also be another side of you for a little while. Enjoy all of it as much as you can.

I can imagine how it will be too. I would miss my kids even when I go out for dinner without them!

I am sure you will chat with her on the phone everyday and before you know it, you will be back giving lots more cuddles.

You'll be busy Nikki and the time will fly - I LOVE wee girl's drawings. They will be there for you, and I look forward to seeing you again.

I know how you feel, but being busy will help. At night, you'll probably be exhausted, so sleeping shouldn't be a problem. Love your little one's art work. She's obviously inherited your creativity. Enjoy the Show.

Nikki, your post has brought tears to my eyes. You have a lovely little one - she is so talented too. Love her paper shirt!

I am finding today very hard too - I will be leaving mine for 6 days too (the longest I have ever left my youngest!)

Sean said to me that he will really appreciate me when I get back!! Can't wait for that!

See you tomorrow.
