More Denyse Schmidt fabric.. and a Belle Bag

This is the Belle bag.
Ok... so it's a bit of a Denyse Schmidt overload.... There are diferent fabrics on the way - I promise!

For a girly-looking little bag, the Belle actually opens up to be quite roomy. This is the inside.

It closes in two directions, which pulls the shape in to make it a "puff" . First are the side tabs with a small magnetic snap...
Then the centre-front and centre-back clip together with a large magnetic snap.
I used medium-heavy interfacing and light fusible wadding on the bag pieces. I also fused medium-heavy interfacing to the lining, to hold its shape firmly onto the inside of the bag. It's the first time I've done that - and now I wish I'd written it into the instructions because it also helps to support the structure in the bag really well.

This is a really cute and practical bag. I love that you shared the interfacing tips. So many times I have not been happy with my homemade bags because they are too floppy. I love the fabric combinations also.

You are a very talented lady!

That's great how you have the double snaps - that's something I always look for in a purse... how well does this thing keep closed when it gets tossed all over my car??? ;)

The Belle Bag was my first ever Nicole purse. I've made several and yes, adding the interfacing and wadding (or fusible batting as we call it in the states) really does make a difference.

It looks fantastic Nikki! Now you've made me want to make another Belle bag. My current one is used a lot (at the moment mostly as a crochet project bag, but the uses vary!) and it is surprising how much fits into it. Great interfacing tip too - thanks.
